So, we had a bit of an incident in July. we lost another huge section of the maple. It took me days just to clear the small stuff.
I finally got to grab a chunk of the wet wood to rough turn a few maple bowls
It’s beautiful wood.
First two rough turned maple bowls. On the left, you can see how wet the wood is.
Another pair of maple bowls
This is a smaller limb of maple that I failed to cut through the center. So I decided to try my first natural edge bowl. you can see the pith in the bottom. It’s about 4″ across.
I’m having a lot of fun turning these small bowls from wet wood. The ones on the bottom right are more like small plates. They’re very thin, from the maple, and distorted as they dried. The others are either maple or beech
